This is a very typical Heavy Metal story. The art is amazing. Moebius is just starting to investigate this kind of stippling effect in The Airtight Garage. Here it is used to produce entire galaxies and Mandelbrot nebulae.

The writing is actually better than bad. The plot is very thin and concerns symbolic beings taking action on a cosmic scale – producing awesome visuals in the process.

Here, it makes sense. Man wakes up with a sword, finds the star containing the Bird of Dust and wakens it by stabbing it in the center of the head. He then rides the bird somewhere else, which wasn’t very clear, actually.

Did I mention that the art is great?
