If I am honest, I think this is the point where Moebius and the audience both suddenly came to the understanding that this storyline did not make sense and wasn’t going to make sense any page now. The real fans were okay with that. Moebius was okay with that. The only reason to continue reading this strip is because of the art. (Which more or less sums up Heavy Metal in a nutshell, one of the reasons that I associate Moebius – and this strip specically – with Heavy Metal.)

Having said that, this chapter is awesome because two little people are traveling through the desert in a robot that is shaped like a human being. Not just any human being, either – this robot is Lee Falk’s Phantom. (On the next page, the robot punches someone and leaves the skull mark on the jaw.)

Also of interest is the appearance of the Major (from an earlier, not-labelled-as-such Airtight story), giving the reader some idea of who the main character actually is.
