The man is obviously a point of view character for Caza and shows up in later pieces. A lot of artists from this era inserted themselves into their art, which underscores the fact that they were all long haired freaks.

The story here is a tripped-out parable about a man meeting a woman in the elevator – teased out into an existential crisis he didn’t know he had. More beautifully illustrated than amusingly told.
