This little story does a great job of satirizing how multinational corporations have expanded on the backs of locals for centuries. Set in an ostensibly science fictional universe, it’s not quite a one-to-one match, but it’s very close. And it’s still relevent over 30 years later, which is probably the most disturbing thing about the story.
