This is a beautifully drawn story that contains some seriously problematic assumptions underneath the narrative. This gentleman is riding over to meet another armored man so that they can battle over posession of a naked, bound woman. The punchline of the story is that one of the swords accidentally kills her and they call off the fight. It’s presented as something that’s meant to be funny (without the prize, the two combatants walk away) but the poor woman isn’t addressed at all except in the context of a prize.
