In an attempt to break up the text, several strips have been cut up and added at the tops and/or sides of the pages. It’s not an approach that always works – the strips tend to be what draws the eye and it takes a serious effort to concentrate on the text. The Glouglou strip at the top of this page is clearly designed as a vertical strip that has been reformatted to fit the horizontal space, which very obviously changes the way it reads.
