One of the strengths that Moebius brought to the table was the ability to make everything – even the absurdly goofy transformations – look realistic. The stuff on the top page would not have nearly as much impact if the characters around them were not drawn so well.

The landscapes on the bottom page are clearly Moebius getting into drawing landscapes just because he felt like it. The realism is a striking contrast to some of the cartoony figure work that shows up elsewhere in the story.
