Of the interviews that Heavy Metal has conducted to this point, the Druillet interview is the most coherent. He lists a slew of visual interests, but doesn’t actually mention Kirby – who I reckon is one of his stronger influences. He does mention that he enjoys looking at the covers of American superhero comics, but doesn’t like the stories themselves, which really makes sense considering how much of his work is splash pages and two-page pin-ups.
