This story starts in one place and ends somewhere else entirely, but I really just want to point out that the forest spirit (Nil-Gish here) is a man with an ape’s head. He is kidnapped by slavers at the end of the story and the caption clearly states that something bad happened to them because they removed Nil-Gish from his habitat, but it doesn’t say what their fate was. It’s a very frustrating story is what I’m saying.
