This is an example of a twist story that works – mostly because the twist isn’t on the last page of the story. Here, Ahab has become a spaceship captain, picking up whales from other planets and bringing them back to Earth to repopulate the oceans. Which is a very nice thought – but what if those alien whales didn’t want to leave their planets? Voss in color is a very different beast than when he’s doing work strictly in black and white – the full blacks are not as prominent and his inks leave more room for the color to inhabit. The coloring on the whale, for example, is beautiful.
