The conceit of the whole story is that a group of high-level French officials are receiving a briefing about a man that keeps showing up in trouble spots all over the world. Here, they are grilling an artist and writer who produced a strip that contained that character. The names of the artist and writer? Bilal and Christin. That’s right – the creators of the story wrote (and drew) themselves into the story. The most hilarious part is that their explanations of what the story is about reads like the usual high-concept nonsense that was floating around in French comics circles at the time.
