For some reason, Rod McKie’s stories ended up being the kind of thing that people held up as exemplary of what the magazine could produce – which is weird because they are well-drawn and actually make sense. This is another story with a twist ending, but this actually worked really well because the twist was really on the nose.
The conceit is that the hero in the first panel spends the entire story going over the history of the situation – aliens arrive and give the planet Earth fifty years to breed a supersoldier that will fight their champion. I included the page with the twist ending because it works really well as a visual gag.
