The little bookmark-shaped illustration by George Pratt is not the most interesting part of this page, as far as I’m concerned. I think the ad for the framed Woodstock tickets is far more interesting. They speak directly to the collector mentality that seems to act as a foundation for this period of Heavy Metal and simultaneously speaks directly to the hippy nostalgia that buoys the Heavy Metal readership. It’s just about the perfect example of a targeted, utterly useless collector’s item that one can find for sale in these back issues.
