One of the joys of The Bus is how well it handles the moment to moment transitions, forcing the reader to pay attention to what has changed from one panel to the next. Here, the top row of set up is punctuated by the first two panels in the bottom row, where Kirchner carefully sets up the punchline in the last panel.
