I find this ad very interesting. The books on offer are noted for being overly militaristic, featuring hard-bitten mercenaries going to troublespots and shooting people – the movie First Blood had only been released the year before and sequel was still a few years off and these books were more or less the same genre.

I find it really interesting that this genre shows up in this publication. The M-16 in particular has a very specific meaning (Vietnam) to American readers and it makes me wonder how many vets were reading the magazine.
