The author of the interview that this illustration accompanies notes in the introduction that Leary plugged his new book several times during the interview. Not only is this acceptable behavior in general, but it shouldn’t be surprising to anyone working for Heavy Metal – a publication that spent a lot of time on self-promotion.
The best part of the interview, in my opinion, is Leary talking about the time he spent in prison with G. Gordon Liddy and that they later went on a speaking tour together where they debated the issues of the day.
