This looks like it was made as a sort of woodblock or linoblock print, which is not something you see very often in this kind of publication. Of course, the subject matter specifically references 1984, which is very topical. I’m actually surprised that I haven’t seen more explicitly Orwellian subject matter in the 1984 issues to date.
