This Jodorowsky story is one of the most alien things I’ve seen in Heavy Metal in a long time. The people aren’t exactly people, but something else entirely that only has a passing resemblance to humanity.

This is one of those pages that I still remember reading when it first came out because it was so striking. Not just the beautifully rendered rain lines and how well Cadelo has shown us that everything is soaking wet, but the panels on the first tier. Despite their masks, each monk has his own personality and the side-by-side presentation emphasizes how much each is in his own little world with his own reaction to the circumstances.
