Although this is a one-and-done story, it is also technically the sequel to a comic that Heavy Metal published in late 1985. In fact, there’s a note on the previous page to the effect of “if readers want to know more, they can always go back and find the old story” which rather severely undermines the whole point of “complete in this issue” storytelling. Of course, this wasn’t the first time Heavy Metal did this, nor would it be the last.
