Dieter Lumpen returns in a black and white story that gives the whole thing a very film noir vibe. What’s very interesting is that this story comes directly after another story that Heavy Metal published in 1988. The best part of these stories are the incidental images and panels – the priest reading a newspaper, the fisherman with their nets, the amazing picture of the rooftops and the harbor in the middle panel. It’s not a clean line, exactly – it’s actually closer to Hugo Pratt’s linework, which you can actually see the influence of here in the chiaroscuro penultimate panel.
