The punchline of the whole story is found in the last panel – the woman who won the Rubi Fields Lookalike Pageant is actually a man. Twist ending! It’s not the first time that a twist ending in Heavy Metal has hinged on trans-panic. It’s not the last, either. Unfortunate, really.
