The plot is a twist on the pretty basic JFK election story, complete with mob tie-ins, sex scandals and so forth. What makes this page interesting, though, is the art. The grey-toned panels in the middle are presented that way to give the reader the visual cue that these are actually projected on the television screen. That’s always a good idea – changing the art style in some way to provide a visual cue for the reader.
