Here, Hombre discovers a remote monastery that has been collecting books and other pop culture artifacts for that day when civilization eventually rises again. It’s a neat twist that I haven’t run into a lot in post-apocalyptic fiction. (And there’s a lot of post-apocalyptic fiction in Heavy Metal.)

The expression on his face in the inset panel really tells the story better than a caption could.
