This strip has a very strong Thelma and Louise vibe to it – two women with guns in a convertible in the American Southwest. Given that the movie was two years old by this point, the reactions from the men are somewhat understandable.
However, in this day and age, I can see how men would be less likely to run away from two women walking into a bar sporting assault rifles. Instead, they might be greeted as fellow travelers and invited to go shooting or something. How times have changed (or not).
