This sequence is just flat-out amazing. It’s a concert, right? So the lead guitarist throws his guitar at the blimp flying overhead and it actually connects. And that leads to the Hindenburg/Led Zeppelin homage (which is actually quite clever) and then things really get out of hand.

If I wanted to present a single page that really speaks to how much Manga has influenced both French cartooning of the period and the material that Heavy Metal is reprinting, this would be it. Check out the speed lines! And the tilted gutters really emphasize how much everything is in flux by giving things an unbalanced aspect. It’s a great page.
