It may be tough to read through the weird effect that my scanner added to the page, but that last letter takes Heavy Metal to task for getting “too mainstream.” The case he lays out (lower paper quality, lower story quality, more tits and ass, etc) is pretty solid, to be honest. The rebuttal doesn’t actually give a good argument beyond “well, we had to lower the paper quality to keep the cover price the same.”
