This is a beautifully illustrated little story about a rich man who is given a mermaid as a birthday present. Naturally, he falls in love with her and the two spoiled women who share his bed (one of which is identified as his sister) get jealous and kill her.

The real joy of this story is the art, and I say that as a fan of the artist. The spotted blacks are really well done throughout. I do like the touch of the winter dome in the middle tier.
