Here we have yet another team up between Simon Bisley and Kevin Eastman (who is, I would like to remind you, the owner of the publication). The story is as follows: a naked woman walks into a western town; she collapses in a saloon; the patrons of the saloon rape her; she wakes up and starts to shoot them. And then we get to this page, where we discover that the patrons are actually supernatural creatures of some kind that still use guns for reasons. 

I swear I am not making this up.

The owner of the magazine co-created a story where a naked woman who just showed up out of nowhere and is immediately raped for two pages before killing her rapists. And he thought it was worthy of publication.

In a way, this story is about as archetypal a Heavy Metal story as it is possible to be. Equal parts sex and violence? Check. Objectification of the female form? Check? Disdain for the implausibility of a woman being randomly naked and comfortable enough to not cover up immediately? Check. Vague, undefined supernatural element? Check.

Multiply the content check by the fact that it’s drawn by the artist that has been thoroughly associated with this period of Heavy Metal and written by THE OWNER of the magazine.

Until further notice, I’m declaring this story to be Peak Heavy Metal.
