At this point in its publication, Heavy Metal has been publishing three special editions a year for a few years. My approach to date has been to scan and review the regular issues, then jump back to the special editions. Part of that has been because the special editions have a non-standard nomenclature on the spines – some of them are keyed to seasons and some are just the name of the specials. From an archival perspective, it’s very vexing.

All of which is to say that this ad for the 25th anniversary special edition seemed to be very well timed. I’ll get to it, but that’ll be a month from now.

From here on out, the special editions are more normalized. In honor of that, I’ll try to integrate the specials in between the regular editions. To be honest, I could have done all of that without telling you and you’d have never known. I just liked telling the three of you who cared enough to read all of those words.
