The first appearance in this publication of John Totleben. Steve Bissette has already shown up in three consecutive issues, which means that Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing creative team was in Heavy Metal at about the same time he was slagging it off as being full of nonsense stories (which was a pretty accurate assessment).

Also interesting is the reactionary note at the bottom of the spread regarding critiques of the magazine’s content. I’m not sure that this illustration does a good job of presenting a different worldview, but it was also created in May of 78 (according to the signature) and I think the inscription at the bottom was an editorial addition and really had nothing to do with the intentions of the artist.
