There is an ad in this issue for a limited edition hardcover of this illustrated adaptation. This is fairly early Chaykin work, painted and more abstract than his later work in American Flagg (for example). What’s very interesting about this adaptation is how much unused white space is left on the page. The paragraphs in the sidebar are meant to correspond to the images – and the pairing is largely successful. I’ll be looking for the hardcover, but I don’t expect to ever find a copy.
