This subscription ad is fascinating to me as an artifact of a publishing schedule that didn’t quite work. They actually did switch to a monthly release schedule starting in this issue – July of 2003. They kept it up for the remainder of 2003 and the first issue of 2004, at which point they switched back to their original publishing schedule.

All told, they only ended up printing one more issue than normal, but all of the issues for the back half of 2003 are in monthly order. Which is really only a big deal to people like me who are obsessed with putting the damn things in some kind of sequential order. But if I’m interested in something, you get to read about it. That’s the way it works.
