This is one of those stories that spun directly out of a common phrase – in this case, “Love makes the world go round.” The reveal at the end of the story is that this simple kiss is used as a battery in some alien machine because love generates energy. Heavy Metal is full of these kinds of stories, but if I had to use one to illustrate the concept, it would probably be this one.
