The editorial in this issue spends a lot of time talking about how much time and effort went into bringing this series to Heavy Metal from the pages of Metal Hurlant. Unfortunately, there are several instances where the storytelling flow on the page simply does not work (or the word balloons are just lettered wrong); this page is a perfect example. The word balloon in the bottom of the first panel should really be swapped out with the balloon in the top of of the second panel – as it currently stands, it just doesn’t work.

Other than production issues like that, the story is a decent approach to a Mayan slice-of-life story.
