One of the more interesting things about this story is how all of the old Elvis lyrics are embedded throughout the story as off-handed dialog for various distaff characters. The man in the pink suit in the bottom of the last panel is meant to be Jerry Lee Lewis, who spends the next few pages upset at the Colonel – who serves as a generic svengali-type, gathering up musical prospects – for ditching him (and, by extension, his stardom) when things got bad. On the whole, this is one of the weirder uses of the clear line style.
