The story at the top of the page bears a lot of resemblance to Kirchner’s The Bus, with a lot more overt weirdness and in color. One of the interesting design aspects is how the parade is rendered as one long image, with a static background and panels added in.

Among the upcoming features at the bottom of the page are Crepax’s Valentina, Corben’s Bloodstar and The Tailor of Fog by Schuiten – all great stuff. There is also a small note regarding the end of the controversial columns, which signals the end of Ted White’s reign as editor of the magazine. This change is not mentioned in either the editorial or the letter columns, which makes me wonder if this was a last-minute change that was slipped in just before the magazine went to print.
