I don’t know who the designer was for this house ad, but he wasn’t very good. (There’s another house ad from the same designer later in the issue that I didn’t scan.) What I find really interesting about the content of this ad is that they were selling pre-collated packs of underground comix – the same comix that Jay Kinney has been writing about for the whole of 1980. In theory, the readers of Heavy Metal were the target demographic for these kinds of comics and I’d be really interested to see what the actual sales were for these mail order products.
