This is a sign of things to come. By this point, it had been widely announced that Grant Morrison was going to become the next big Editor-in-Chief of Heavy Metal. He took over in issue 280. At the time, he say some bollocks about “making Heavy Metal punk again.” I wrote a response to this at the time.
