This article starts with a direct dig at the recently elected Ronald Reagan and goes sideways into a long discussion of Norman Spinrad’s The Iron Dream, a novel about the science fiction novel that Hitler would have written if he had come to America during the 20s instead of going into politics. The thread is tenuous, but not unsurprising. This was the early times of Nancy Reagan’s Just Say No campaign, which was of direct interest to the readers of Heavy Metal. It’s not a stretch to suggest that Reagan had fascist tendencies – Thatcher certainly did.
