One of those one-off Moebius pages that had probably been floating around the Heavy Metal art files for years, waiting for two stories to almost line up, except for that last empty page…
There are a lot of indications that this is a very early page by Moebius, beyond the fact that it’s signed GIR, before Jean Giraud came up with the better pseudonym. The art style is still very cartoony and isn’t as tight as his later work. It’s also done in two half-page chunks so that it can be printed as fill-in half pages for Pilote or something similar – most stories are serialized in half-page weekly anthology magazines – the format is unmistakable once you know why to look for it.
I don’t know why it’s in red ink on yellow paper, though. I just know that it’s very bright.
