This is one of the most racist stories I’ve seen in Heavy Metal in a very long time. The art is exceptionally well-rendered, but everything about the story is just bad. From the fact that the waitress can’t pronouce the letter “r” to the fact that the white detective stereotype can’t understand her accent, it just gets worse and worse. In later pages, it’s revealed that the rabbit is actually a cat (because the Chinese eat cats, you see) and there detective goes into the kitchen and shoots all the staff. I should be shocked that this actually got published, but I’m not.
