This is really the origin of the current approach to mining the untapped intellectual property from the Heavy Metal movie. Why did we need an origin story for Taarna? Were people clamoring for more information about her? It feels like Heavy Metal didn’t grasp the problem with fleshing out Boba Fett – a cypher is more appealing because it’s easier to make up stories about them without fear of contradiction.

At any rate, this page is very interesting. Making the art for this must have been a serious pain in the ass.
