This issue’s Dossier features a look at Philip K Dick that is amplified by this little strip, which does a great job of pointing out exactly how weird his worlds really were. What’s really interesting to me is how obscure the creators of Heavy Metal considered Dick to be at this point – barely a year after this death. Thirty years later, Dick is a very well known author. I wonder how much of the post-mortem promotion by publications like Heavy Metal contributed to the current visibility?
