I really love the top panel here, where Valentina is reading from a book and the words have turned into pictures – of characters that show up in the story. It’s a great set up for a framing device. Using color selectively also helps emphasize the framing nature of the panels on this page – the majority of the strip is in color, but only these panels are in black and white.
