This giant machine was designed to interface with a satellite that has been positioned far enough out in space that viewers on Earth can look back in time and see historical events as they happened – which is a fairly straightforward SF trope. What’s weird about this story is that the first two pages are about a guy who gets in a car accident and is rescued by the scientists who created this whole system. That driver acts as the observer character that the scientists explain to (and, in doing so, explain to the audience); in a bizarre twist, the scientists won’t let the driver that they rescued and brought to their lab leave the lab. It doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense, to be honest. Great splash page of the lab, though.
