Druillet has done some work with incorporating photographs into his stories before. What I find especially interesting is that this was considered state-of-the-art at the time, but was probably done by hand and looks like it. In the same issue, this one-page article about the state of the art computer animation resources also appeared. It specifically mentions the overly pixelated results and a Koala pad (a very early forerunner of the modern Wacom tablets). Progress!
