The little strip at the bottom of the page by Matt Howarth is entirely about the fact that Lou Stathis – who started writing for Heavy Metal back when Ted White was the Editor in Chief – is now stepping down as contributing editor. He’ll continue to write occasional pieces, but he won’t be running the letters column or Dossier. In a lot of ways, the one-two punch of losing John Workman (back in the Fall of 84) and Lou Stathis took out a lot of the creative punch that the publication worked with. It remains to be seen what the fallout will be. I can’t wait to find out.
