Herikberto’s artwork is very cubist in appearance and has been for a long time. Here, the last page of the story posits that the whole thing we’ve just read is just Picasso sitting in his studio, contemplating things. I’m fairly sure that’s Guernica in front of him, which ties back to the story’s title – The Destroyer.
