Our main character has been sentenced to an asylum, where he meets this inmate. The new inmate’s idiosyncratic speech patterns are a reference to George Herriman’s Krazy Kat. There have been a slew of references to cartoon cats throughout the series, so casting Krazy Kat as an inmate seems pretty on the nose.
