Halfway through the page, the story changes from a contemporary story to one being told in the eleventh century – the ancestor of the man drinking in the second panel was the lord of the land and is about to go off on the First Crusade. Freddy singing in the last panel is a reference to a sight gag of him singing at the beginning of the story. What’s very interesting to me is the weird column of random iconography on the left of the page. This is repeated throughout the whole story, effectively limiting the amount of space on the page for actual panels.
